A New Year!!!  The prospects, the resolutions, the joy of our good luck to have this lovely pastime to engage our minds and our hands...the pursuit of a good “hand” and the community to share your “knit speak”...At Cardigans, we are driven by these goals.  We have brought in the wonderful and beautiful patterns by Jared Flood (note our class schedule)..we also continue bringing in pattern support from Heirloom, Grace Akhrem, Indigirl, Marie Grace, Westknits, and SKIF.  But sometimes the fibers these designers suggest are too rough and scratchy for our California climate..how amazing is this weather!!...And so we consider HAND.  This is a term given for how a yarn feels and behaves.  This is what our main focus is here at Cardigans...pleasure.  We all do this for the thrill of our senses...our sight is stimulated by color....this font for instance is purple...in honor of Susan’s birthday!  Our tactile receptors respond to certain fibers...TEXTURE is my main joy as a knitter...BIG ..BOLD stitches..and so I made the ottoman cover for Cardigans..and used a big lace stitch on big needles with the delicious Debbie Bliss Paloma..winter white of course.

So, come play in our colorful, tactile playground...fondle, grope and gaze to your hearts content..to a fiber enthusiast, just being in our store will erase the bad day, or soften bad news.

On this quest, I will be going to Phoenix next week for the yarn show...I will fondle and gaze, and bring to you what I think you might enjoy.

Our newest fiber in the store is Shi bui. A Portland based company, ‘Shibui’ means elegant with a touch of bitterness..and they bring us a beautiful color palette, and amazing “hand”

We do have a new shipment of Madalinetosh...which continues to be the current runaway rage in the yarn world...we wait 16 weeks, sometimes longer for this hot yarn...come get what we have on hand while there is a plethora.
